Joe Perry, known as the guitarist of Aerosmith, collapsed onstage while performing with Johnny Depp and Alice Cooper during a show in Brooklyn tonight. The Hollywood Vampires continued with their tour as scheduled, and Alice Cooper had the Coney Island crowd chant “Get well, Joe!”
“Joe Perry is stable and resting”, a band representative said, without offering further detail on his condition. Perry thanked fans for reaching out to him on Twitter. In numerous videos posted by fans regarding the Joe Perry heart attack, paramedics can be seen rushing towards the 65-year-old star before getting off the stage.
After the show, Cooper tweeted that Perry was in stable condition. “#HollywoodVampires @ Ford Amphitheater at Coney Island Boardwalk”, along with a link to photo of the pair playing.
The Aerosmith lead guitarist is believed to have been moved to New York-Presbyterian Hospital’s Columbia University Medical Center. We wish him a speedy recovery and hope that he comes back to the stage to astonish us with his wonderful guitar skills.
The 65-year-old Aerosmith guitarist was performing with his second band, Hollywood Vampires, when he stumbled and had to sit down to play guitar.
Friends and fans took to social media to express concern.
It’s likely that Hollywood Vampires’ upcoming tour dates in Ohio, Michigan and Wisconsin may be postponed.
In February, the Hollywood Vampires performed a tribute to the late Motorhead frontman Lemmy Kilmister at the Grammys.
The band is about halfway through its first official US tour, which is scheduled to continue this Tuesday, July 12, in Kettering, Ohio.
