LG V20, the first smartphone to run Android 7.0 Nougat and feature Quad DAC will launch on September 6
LG is all set to launch its V20 smartphone in San Francisco on September 6. The smartphone can already make a claim for being the first Android 7.0 Nougat smartphone and now reports indicate that the device will be the first to feature a Quad DAC.
LG V10, which was launched last year in October, had a 32bit DAC. LG has been focusing on premium audio experience for some time now. Early this year, the Korean company teamed with Bang&Olufsen to create a Hi-Fi module for its G5 smartphone. The news from Seoul indicates that LG is once again joining hands with ESS to bring Quad DAC to the V20.
“As smartphones mature, we’re seeing more and more customers looking beyond just fast processors and big displays in their devices. Higher quality audio is simply the natural evolution of the smartphone, as the industry moves toward a more holistic multimedia consumption experience,” LG President Juno Cho was quoted as saying.
LG V20 is likely to feature a modular design like G5 and redesigned camera module. The reports suggests device will feature a slimmer metal design and the familiar secondary screen. LG is also reportedly dropping the dual front camera setup. LG V20 is said to feature volume rocker on the left while power button will be placed below the camera module.
LG G5, the first modular smartphone was a great attempt but it seemed half-baked for the time. With V20, LG could try and fix some of its flaws.
