Starting tomorrow, Samsung 4G smartphone users could avail Reliance Jio 4G SIM card with preview offer where they get 90 days of unlimited voice calls, internet and access to Jio apps. Here’s how to get one.
Despite numerous delays in commercial launch of its 4G LTE services, Reliance Jio has already been making news for its 4G ‘Preview Offer.’ The company started offering free Jio SIM cards with LYF-branded smartphones, along with 90 days of unlimited high-speed internet access, voice calls and access to its content services. The offer was then extended to HP laptop users and select Samsung smartphones such as Galaxy S7-series and Galaxy A-series. Now, BGR India has learned that starting tomorrow (August 20), the 4G preview offer will be extended to all Samsung 4G smartphones.
Under this offer, users with Samsung 4G smartphones will have to download the MyJio app from the Google Play Store. On opening the app, users will see links to sign in and sign up. There will be one more option ‘Get Jio SIM,’ clicking on which will generate a bar code coupon. Users will have to walk in to the Reliance Digital or Reliance Digital Xpress Mini stores along with the Samsung 4G smartphone, unique barcode coupon generated via the app and documents.
One needs to submit the ID and address proof, Aadhar Card is recommended, along with a passport size photograph, and fill the CAF (customer acquisition form). The Jio SIM card with preview offer will give given for free. Once documents are submitted and accepted, an SMS will be sent on the alternate number that you had given. After getting the SMS, insert the Jio SIM card in the smartphone and call 1977 to activate the connection. Soon, you will get the activation message and the unlimited voice, SMS and data plan will get activated on your new Jio number. One of the best parts of this offer is that you don’t need to buy a new smartphone to avail this offer. You also get an access to Jio suite of apps such as JioBeats to listen to music, JioOnDemand to watch movies, JioPlay to watch live TV on the go, JioDrive to backup your photos, videos, SMS, contacts and more. While Reliance Jio is trying to build a good customer base to test its services before the nationwide commercial launch, other telecom operators have already started feeling the heat. To level up the game, Airtel has come up with ‘Super Powerful Offer’ for prepaid users, which gives 10GB of 4G data to select Samsung Galaxy J-series smartphones for the price of 1GB. Users need to visit www.offers.airtel.com and follow the on-screen instructions to avail the offer. Similarly, Idea Cellular has also introduced promotional 3G/ 4G data packs for its prepaid and postpaid subscribers — offering up to 67 percent data on existing plans.
The price and mobile data war is sure getting interesting and while telecom operators are at each other’s throat, it’s the end user that is reaping all the benefits.
