Technical snag affects Harbour local services



The Harbour Railway services came to a halt yesterday at 1.13 pm to 2.23 pm when motor coaches of Vashi-bound retrofit local train failed near the Masjid Bunder railway station. 50 local train services were cancelled and 80 services were delayed. A Central Railway official, on the condition of anonymity, said, “The motor coaches of the Vashi-bound local train coming from Sanpada car shed failed near Masjid station which resulted in the complete halt of the Harbour Railway services. The services were resumed at 2.23 pm, but due to the complete halt of the services, there was bunching of local trains and the local train services were further effected throughout the week.”

A Central Railway release stated, “Due to the technical problems in the pantograph, the CST-Vashi local at Masjid was delayed from 01.13 pm to 02.23 pm. Affected trains were cleared at 02.23 pm and services restored at 02.40 pm.35 services were cancelled. Passengers of Harbour line were allowed to travel via main line and Eestern railway during that period. Announcements were regularly made through central announcement system for the benefit of commuters.”
